Administration: The Director is responsible for operational oversight, including…

  • Reporting (The Board of Directors, The Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry, The Florida Annual Conference, insurance, misc. governmental reporting and documents)
  • General oversight of facilities, property, finances, personnel
  • Staffing (including hiring, supervision, and evaluation)
  • Relating and reporting to the Board of Directors and subcommittees
  • Annual program and calendar oversight
  • General oversight of daily operation of program and facilities
  • Serving as a University Chaplain at the University of Miami
  • Attending monthly Chaplains’ Association meetings

Pastoral: The director also serves the role of Pastor, including…

  • Preaching/Teaching (Weekly worship, weekly teaching, retreats, etc.)
  • Administration of Sacraments
  • As a University Chaplain, responding as needed by the university during times of death, crisis, and special university needs
  • Worship Planning (Weekly Sunday Worship, retreats, special events, etc.)

The website www.dadeschools.net has a wealth of information about schools. The neighborhood schools for the parsonage are:


Sunset Elementary – A Blue Ribbon School with an International Studies program, ages Pre-K through Grade 5, excellent School

Ponce de Leon Middle School - Grades 6-8, an A school, small classes

Coral Gables High School – a C school, excellent programs, large number of honors and AP classes as well as an IB (International Baccalaureate) Magnet


In addition, Miami-Dade schools have a large magnet program ( for which someone applying to us in January would miss the deadline, but they are open every year)


Also, Miami-Dade has a large number of non sectarian college preparatory schools, many near our area (Gulliver, Ransom Everglades) and many church related private schools for all ages.
